Effects and Causes of Global Warming

Global warming is effecting climate both globally and locally. Extreme humidity, cold and high temperature are causing many health problems, including dehydration, malnutrition, skin cancer etc.

Global warming is a sensitive issue that alarms environmental hazard in near future. Recently, in a provocative study by the scientist at Utah, focused on the major cause of global warming. The rise in emissions of carbon dioxide is the prime reason for ozone-layer depletion and it cannot be stabilized unless one nuclear power plant each day. Scientists mentioned that for stabilization of carbon dioxide, it demands 300 gigawatts (approx) of a new non-carbon -dioxide-emitting power production capacity annually.

Effects of Global Warming

Change in weather condition:

Global warming is effecting climate both globally and locally. Extreme humidity, cold and high temperature are causing many health problems, including dehydration, malnutrition, skin cancer etc.

Glacier Disappearance:

A research in the later half of 19th century reported that the total surface area of glaciers worldwide has decreased by 50% and currently loss of mass balance is increasing in the Himalayas, Rocky Mountains, Alps, Andes and North Cascades regions. Scientist predict that India, China, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal and Myanmar may come across floods and droughts in the coming decades.

Rise in sea level:

Due to change in temperature, sea ice are melting and oceans are expanding in volume. According to research, the sea level has rise more than 120 meters, since 20, 000 years ago.

Oxygen Depletion:

With global warming, the amount of oxygen dissolved in the oceans is declining, which its may result dangerous for the survival of marine creatures.

Acidification:

Due to rise in concentration of Carbon-dioxide, ocean acidification is taking place. The increase in greenhouse gas is lowering the average pH level of sea water. The process is adversely effecting marine creatures with shells and corals.

Fluctuation of temperature:

Global ocean temperature is rising with time, which is affecting the growth of algae and reducing the ability of sea water to absorb carbon dioxide level.

Steps to control Global Warming:

There are some commonly discussed strategies, which can help slowing carbon dioxide emissions and global warming.

Control over population growth

Increased energy efficiency

Use of power sources that don't emit carbon dioxide, solar energy and other gaseous forms.

Fossil fuel burning and underground storage of carbon-dioxide

Decreased standard of living i.e avoiding excessive use of technological developments.

Recycling cell phones help stop global warming. Expose to powerful radiation from cellphones and gradually affecting the growth of trees and animals. Also human beings are at the risk of birth deformities and behavioral problems, due to radio frequencies.

Conversation of trees and diversifying ecosystems greatly help reduce the effect of global warming
