The future of solar energy can be predicted due to the development in modern technologies of the 21th century. Many buildings have been built in passive solar systems. As the price of solar cells continues to reduce, they will be more spread all over the world. The main objective of the USA solar industry in the future is to provide 50 percent of the U.S electricity by 2025.

While talking about the future of solar energy we should consider Germany and Japan which are also leading countries in solar power industry. But United States is already reaching them. For example, let's take California. Between 2000 and 2001 this state experienced soaring energy costs which has motivated the leaders to diversify energy resources. Finally in the year of 2006, the California Solar Initiative was created and it generated 3000 megawatts of new solar electricity within 11 years. This figure is equal just to the placement of solar systems on one million roofs.

Like other energy sources solar power has also its advantages and disadvantages.

So What Are The Pros And Cons Of Solar Energy?

Solar Energy Pros:

It is a renewable resource. It is free. Solar power does not result in production of any toxic substances, except the processes involved in the manufacture of materials. Small solar energy generators are easy to set up. Solar systems are very low maintenance. They have no moving parts (except the pumps and fans). Solar panels can work for a long time. It is almost always easy to predict the amount of power a system will generate, if you have the right data.

Solar Energy Cons:

High costs; Not all locations are suitable for this type of alternative energy.

However, the future of solar energy is really promising.
