When you are young everything is up , everything that you need is up, and thats why kids say “Wait up”, “Shut up”, “Mom, let me stay up”. But when you are old everything is down, thats why you hear parents telling their kids “Slow down”,”Calm down”, “Sit down”, “Put that down”. Well,iam trying to open a subject of extreme and serious importance with a comical note, but my central point starts with this. Ok,lets get serious.

 

Every kid in this world has an extra set of energy packets( say Photons... Ok just a a touch of physics), and its pushing the kid to aspire high and aim high. What we need to understand is that Kids of a country are not just the future but the next reason for that country to exist. A very important fact that needs to be added here is that it's a country's and its government's responsibility to make sure that every young heart has the opportunity and freedom to express, nurture itself and finally become mature. We are still awe struck by the magnificence of India which struggled and attained its independence purely with act of non- violence , eventually becoming a democratic country. We still salute those heroes who brought an end to Nazism and fascism during second world war and freed the Jews from the atrocities done to them. We still celebrate the “cinco de mayo “, the Mexican festival which marks the victory of the Mexican Army over the French at the Battle of Puebla. We still mourn for Gandhi and Martin Luther King. What does all these facts tell us ? Every future generation looks at their earlier generation as their God Father. They take pride in the work, struggle and success of their ancestors . Its innate that the present generation celebrates their ancestor's glory and achievement as their own and try to do something wonderful during their time so that they can leave an impact on the world .

 

The world has shrunk into one small place to live in, kids are becoming not just patriotic but also socially conscious about their world. When the American Iranian got arrested and prosecuted in Iran allegedly for Spying, Tenth graders in a local High school in LA wrote an essay about it and got it published in a local high school newspaper. When Srilanka was attacked by militants and hundreds of civilians fled out of the country to save themselves , College students in Britain protested against such an act of terrorism and war against civilians. When the press released about the wrong usage of the TARP funds by the executives of various banks in America, there were local high schools which conducted debates and competitions about how to handle these banks and their bad decisions. When I was traveling in a bus in LA with a group teenagers, there was this 15 year old kid who asked me why does Israel and Palestine fight, for which I replied “May be its not that simple Kid”.

 

A democratic government not only promises its people that it would work tirelessly for its safety and prosperity, but also , in return, expects its people to take responsibility and work parallel with its government. Any sensible person would agree to this and would say that's how a country would grow and so does the whole world. If a world wants to see more innovations, more solutions to our impossible problems , then it needs to provide the appropriate footprint for its younger generations to rise and flourish. Every country and government should realize that it should infuse as much resources as possible for the young minds to be free and explore. The Governments and organizations should provide leadership roles for the young ones so that they can take charge and new thinking will emerge in the market. The old way of doing things, and sticking to old dogmas might be good in books and journals, but the reality is things have changed in the present era. The world needs young entrepreneurs,young leaders to move it forward. In short ,that's how Legends are made. To me, these legends that we refer to , can be something like, coming with a 100% efficient Solar car, a solution for the entire state of California to run with Wind energy, a perfect diplomatic way to ease the relationship between Muslim countries and the West, a cure for AIDS, a way to keep the Wall street to do business innovative with complete freedom but mindful about the rules and regulations, for a young engineer to become CEO for major corporations and change the way of business to be more realistic, ethical, energetic and driving. Everyone thinks that there is one silver bullet for every mega problem, well in reality, that's not how it works. Things evolve as we move forward in the path of time. Great things and legends take time and hard-work. The young minds which gets inspired by the greatness of its ancestors, have to toil their hands to create legends.

Greatness that lasts for ever is the core logic of Legend. So how are legends made??? Well, legends are made by every single young soul which tries to take the example of previous legends, get enthused by them, and then eventually creates one for itself.
