Photovoltaic Power Panels

This article is about PV Solar Power Panels.

In solar power systems, solar panels handle the task of converting sunlight to electricity. Solar panels are an ingenious invention that give ordinary homeowners the capacity to produce their own power, slashing their electricity bills and decreasing their impact on the environment.

Solar cells themselves are made from smaller solar cells, which are housed within a weatherproof case. When they are struck by sunlight, the solar cells produce a small electrical current. A large enough number of solar cells when combined can produce a significant amount of current. Solar panels are normally equipped with redundant cells, so that even if a small number of cells fail, the panel as a whole can go on generating power without any disruption.

The most recent generation of solar cells provide greater efficiency and durability than previous cells. These new models are able to produce more electricity from less sunlight than older varieties. Solar cells generate electricity only when sunlight exposure goes beyond a certain threshold. Modern cells need less sunlight to produce power than older models did.

It’s now possible to generate enough power for your home with fewer solar panels than was previously possible. It’s therefore possible to generate an equal or greater amount of power while dedicating less roof space and less of an initial financial investment to the project. These are some of the main reasons why a growing number of homeowners are taking an interest in solar power.

Built-in micro-inverters have been added to recent solar panel designs. Most previous solar panel systems used just one large inverter instead, mounted near the electrical panel of the home. Direct Current (DC) electricity generated by the solar panels would be transferred to this single inverter, which then converted it to Alternating Current (AC) electricity, the kind which is used in the home.

The long wires that ran from the solar panels to the inverter were usually unable to completely maintain the power generated. Now that the panels themselves are equipped with their own inverters, the conversion from DC to AC can be performed without the same loss of power.

These additions make solar panels able to independently supply electricity directly to the home. They eliminate the need for a large inverter and make the process of wiring much easier than had been previously. Thanks to this, it’s now possible to build up a solar power system over time, adding panels as necessary, instead of doing it as one big procedure. No matter how you choose to set up a solar power system, it’s worthwhile to consider these modern solar power panels. The most important thing to keep in mind is that these panels will produce more power for less money, allowing users to enjoy the free power of the sun for longer than ever before. Eric Moore became interested in renewable energy after building an electric powered bike. Shortly after he began riding the bike to work, he thought, why not recharge the bike's batteries with solar power and commute to work completely free and totally pollution free. He then created a website to share his experience and knowledge with others. For many more articles about home solar power visit: Home Solar and Wind Info.
