Tidal Energy: Generation, Benefits and Limitation

In this time of climate change, people need to make use of alternative energy sources. This article features tidal energy – its generation, benefits and limitation.

The changing levels of the sea results to the generation of tidal energy. When the tide shifts from being low to being high, then this type of energy is generated.  It is a renewable type of energy which is also inexhaustible at the same time since tides constantly changes due to the presence of gravity.

One of the best features of renewable tidal energy is the fact that is highly reliable since one can predict it.  This is much predictable in comparison with other types of energy such as solar and wind. The generation of this type of energy is also very consistent.  It does not only rely on the type of weather. It is only dependent on the kinetic energy is released when the planet orbit around the sun.  Gravitational force happens as the moon revolved around the Earth.

The different types of forces work together and consequently lead to the creation of the water level imbalance. This is the reason other places have higher water level as compared with others.  And the cycle continues.

The most important advantage of using tidal power is that it will not cost you a penny to produce it. As long as there is gravitational pull from the moon, this energy will continue to be released.  It does not also possess any adverse effect on the environment.  Creation and using this type of energy do not result to the emission of unhealthy greenhouse effect. There aren't any hazardous wastes created when it is generated. It can also be a good source of electricity and doing so does not require much money. The drawback in using this type of energy is that that it can solely be effective generated in areas where water level is liberal. This limitation has led to further studies that concerns about increasing the potential energy generation in an area.
